COURSES / WORKSHOPS / EVENTS

Crime Club is a community education organisation founded in 2016 to offer free criminology courses.

We reject the fossilised mechanisms of the formal education system, instead offering intellectually challenging material in a fun, playful, cooperative and non-hierarchical manner. As a result we attract a significant number of students who have either ‘dropped out’ of formal education or who feel that their needs are not being fully met within their existing schools, colleges or universities. Crime Club therefore exists for some as a supplement and for others as an alternative to formal schooling.

Crime Club is registered as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO)* and is regulated by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). If you are able, please consider supporting us with a donation - it's thanks to people like you that we can continue to run our free courses, workshops and events.

Further information

Crime Club is a non-profit organisation. That is to say that we have no shareholders, investments or any involvement in any of the myriad financial schemes which for-profit outfits engage in. We are 100% devoted to education, with every penny we make going towards our direct running costs.

We oppose hierarchies and make every effort to minimise all structural forms of inequality.  To this end we have a small board of trustees who are responsible for the running of the charity, the majority of whom have been, or are currently, students on one or more of our courses.  Decisions are made by consensus, ensuring that we are driven by cooperation and compromise rather than edicts and authority.

Our funding comes from three main sources, namely public donations, fundraising campaigns and charitable grants.

We are registered as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) regulated by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).  On the left you will find all relevant information regarding our structure, purposes, trustees, decision-making processes and so on.  If you would like to request information that you don't see here please drop us an email at crimeclubcourses@gmail.com and we'll be happy to help.

"CRIME CLUB IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.  IT'S PRESENTED IN A NO-PRESSURE, NO-HIERARCHY WAY AND YOU CAN LEARN AT YOUR OWN LEISURE.  I ALWAYS CAME OUT OF THOSE CLASSES HAVING LEARNED LOADS, AND HAVE STILL RETAINED THE INFORMATION EVEN NOW!  I'M STILL IN TOUCH WITH THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE AND WE HANG OUT ON THE REGULAR, SO IT'S A DOSS SOCIAL OP TOO!"
